Estimating Distance While Driving

 Objects look much closer than they actually are when:

  • Looking up or down a hill.
  • There is a bright light on the object being looked at.
  • Looking across water snow r flat sand.
  •  The air is clear.

Objects look much farther away than they actually are when:

  • The light is poor.
  • The colour of the object blends with the background.
  • The object is athe end of a long avenue or highway.
  • You are looking over undulating ground.
