If you’re someone watching their health and looking for a good way to spend your time that doesn’t involve being all cooped up indoors with nothing to do, then camping may just be the wonderful activity for you.
With how the pandemic is still sweeping many parts of the world, being able to get away from people and civilization in general feels like a breath of fresh air, as you won’t have to worry about the likes of social distancing as much and feel like you’re suffocating because of how heavy the atmosphere around you feels, among other things like your daily routine of work and chores. After all, one of the hardest things to deal with right now are other people, even if you very much enjoy their presence, because of the way the virus works in spreading.
With camping, this basically removes that kind of risk, as you’ll barely run into people, except the ones you brought with you, like your family and friends. Camping is one of the few activities that doesn’t actually have to worry too much about pandemic restrictions, as other than outright closure, most of them barely affect the campers and the camp sites themselves.
And even when the pandemic ends, camping still provides that lovely and serene feeling of being in the great outdoors with its benefits to boot.
Still not convinced? Then we shall share more health benefits that camping will give you that shows just how wonderful it is to get out and about.
Getting away from it all
Sometimes, people just want a break. From what, you ask?
Everything.
Work, school, home chores, socialization, responsibilities in general.
Let’s face it: We can only handle so much productivity before we completely burn out. Even if we take breaks and indulge in our hobbies like video games, cooking, reading, and the like, it’s not enough. We still feel like our responsibilities are weighing us down somehow.
When you go out camping, you have to worry about none of these. You don’t have to think about work duties, homework or projects from school, or even the dishes back at home, because that’s not where you are.
You’re outdoors, enjoying nature, without the stress-filled nature of cities and towns. There’s very much a big difference that you can feel when you’re at work with all your co-workers doing their own thing and when you’re simply relaxing and enjoying yourself with no one around you but yourself and nature as you camp.
Finally, when you go camping, you don’t have to deal with noise in the slightest. Music is good, talking is good, but you don’t want to listen to music or talk with others and listen to them all the time, right? You want to take a break too, otherwise you’ll burn out.
But unfortunately, in modern society, it’s not that easy to tune out from outside sources. Passing vehicles, especially in a traffic-heavy place, will always be a certainty, construction workers might noisily interrupt your day or even your work, and crowds of people just talking all at the same time culminate into nothing but white noise that you can’t understand but will eventually grow to be annoyed of.
And what happens when you go out camping? Practically all of this disappears. You’ll still hear the occasional wildlife or even the leaves and branches of trees swaying, but not on the same level as it was in the city.
Fresh air
Depending on where you live, you might have clean air, or your air may be absolutely polluted. If you’re in someplace like the countryside, the air is likely going to be clean, but when you live in a place like the city or an urban environment, the air is most definitely going to be filthy. This is because places like factories and other buildings constantly pump out smog up into the atmosphere. And to add onto that, there’s the thousands of cars going from place to place, releasing smoke all the way.
You probably don’t notice just how filthy the air around you is because you’ve already grown accustomed to it. But try going out camping and hanging around the forests and plants, you can, quite literally, smell the difference. Your lungs will also thank you for giving it a break from all the smoke pollution you’ve been experiencing back there.
Opportunities to exercise
Most of the time, the place around your campsite is spacious enough to allow you to roam quite a bit. With proper attire, you can delve into some of the areas of the campsite and bask in the glory of nature and all its beauty.
This certainly isn’t something you’d usually be able to see if you were hanging out in the city, what with all the manmade structures everywhere. Not that manmade structures are a bad thing, of course, but sometimes you just want a change of pace and to see something different for once.
Best of all? While you’re exploring, you’re also getting some much-needed exercise to give your body a proper workout. It’s a win-win situation!
Getting more Vitamin D
Vitamin deficiencies are starting to become more common these days. This is because in the past, many people worked in outdoor jobs like fields and the like, but as soon as the work setting changed from farms to offices, this changed. Now people don’t usually have the opportunity to get the Vitamin D they need, as they barely have any exposure to sunlight.
When you’re out camping, you’re more than likely to not have this problem unless the weather calls for cloudy skies in the morning, and you’ll be able to bask in the sunlight as it converts the Vitamin D in your body into something usable. Especially helpful if your job or school has your crammed in a room with little to no sunlight all day!
